Marxist Criticism of Christianity
In this introductory lecture on “Marx’s Criticism of Christianity”, Professor Bockmuehl devotes considerable attention to the roots of Marx’s views. Focusing extensively on the German philosopher Ludwig Feuerbach, he explains how Feuerbach abandoned the Christian faith of his youth and in the book “Essence of Christianity,” lays out his major objections to historic Christianity. Later, this work was to have a major influence on Karl Marx and Sigmund Freud as well as western atheism.
