“He is risen!”
“He is risen, indeed!”
The words “He is risen!” remind us of the joyous news we celebrate at Easter, that Jesus’ death was not in vain, and that He has the power to overcome death. Easter clearly points out our great sin and our need for forgiveness, God’s abiding love for us and the wonder and hope of the Resurrection.
Saying “He is risen!” allows us to share this incredible truth with each other. The resurrection of Christ gives us hope for salvation and for our own resurrection and eternal life.
At this special moment in time, is God calling you to a deeper relationship with Him? Are you longing to know Him better?
Are you reacting to the COVID-19 the way you would have imagined you would? Or, like many, have you found that your faith, your understanding of God, and your confidence in God is not as deep as it could be?
If you are, then perhaps part of the reason why, for you in this season, is for you to hear God calling you to abide more in Him.
Our prayer is that in this time of reflection and celebration that you will come away with a new commitment, stronger than ever before, to live a life loving, worshiping and praising our risen King.
If you would like someone to pray with you, please email us at [email protected]. Please include your phone number including the best time to reach you, and we will join with you in praying for a fresh, renewed faith in our Lord and King.
A Puritan Prayer from The Valley of the Vision
THOU BLESSED SPIRIT, AUTHOR OF ALL GRACE AND COMFORT,
Come, work repentance in my soul;
Represent sin to me in its odious color that I may hate it;
Melt my heart by the majesty and mercy of God;
Show me my ruined self and the help there is in him;
Teach me to behold my Creator,
his ability to save
his arms outstretched,
his heart big for me.
May I confide in his power and love,
commit my soul to him without reserve,
bear his image, observe his laws,
pursue his service,
and be through time and eternity
a monument to the efficacy of his grace,
a trophy of his victory.
Make me willing to be saved in his way,
perceiving nothing in myself, but all in Jesus:
Help me not only to receive him but
to walk in him,
depend upon him,
commune with him,
be conformed to him,
follow him,
imperfect, but still pressing forward,
not complaining of labor, but valuing rest,
not murmuring under trials, but thankful
for my state.
Give me that faith which is the means of salvation,
and the principle and medium of all godliness;
May I be saved by grace though faith,
live by faith,
feel the joy of faith
do the work of faith.
Perceiving nothing in myself,
may I find in Christ wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, redemption.
This poem, "The Convicting Spirit", is from the book The Valley of the Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers.
