Charles Spurgeon

Charles Spurgeon, Preacher, (1834 – 1892) known by many as “The Prince of Preachers” was an English Baptist preacher at the historic Metropolitan Tabernacle in London for 38 years. He also wrote many timeless works, most notably sermons, commentaries, and devotionals. Two of his greatest works are All of Grace and Morning and Evening.

David Sherbino, Author, has been a faculty member at Tyndale Seminary since 1987, serving previously as Chair of the Pastoral Ministries Department, Coordinator of the Worship and Liturgy program, and Dean of the Chapel. He has served as the lead minister in several congregations in Canada and is presently Minister in Association with The Presbyterian Church in Canada. A popular speaker and church consultant, he regularly addresses various church and ministry groups in Canada and overseas. He has written many articles for church press publications and has published books such as, Foundations for Christian Living, The Marriage Preparation Manual, Re:Connect: Spiritual Exercises to Develop Intimacy with God and Renew: A Basic Guide for a Personal Retreat.

Thomas A. Tarrants

Thomas A. Tarrants is President Emeritus of the C.S. Lewis Institute. After serving twelve years as president and nine years as vice President, he retired from his position as Vice President for Ministry and Director, Washington Area Fellows Program, with CSLI in June 2019. He holds a Master's of Divinity Degree, as well as a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Christian Spirituality. Tom is an ordained minister in the Evangelical Church Alliance and a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. He spends his time writing, mentoring, consulting and traveling. His life story is told in Consumed by Hate, Redeemed by Love, published by Thomas Nelson Publishers.

Joel Woodruff, President, C.S. Lewis Institute, has worked in higher education, “tent-making,” nonprofit administration, and pastoral ministries in Alaska, Israel, Hungary, France, and Northern Virginia. He served as Dean of Students, Chaplain, and Professor of Bible & Theology at European Bible Institute, where he helped train Europeans both for professional ministry and to be Christian leaders in the marketplace. Prior to joining the Institute, he was on the leadership team of Oakwood Services International, a nonprofit educational and humanitarian organization. He is a graduate of Wheaton College, earned his M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and has a doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. As a Parish-Pulpit Fellow, he studied Biblical Backgrounds & Archaeology in Israel for a year.

Stuart McAlpine
Pastor, Teaching Fellow, CSLIStuart McAlpine is a teaching fellow at the C.S. Lewis Institute and the founding pastor of Christ our Shepherd Church located on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. He speaks at churches and conferences around the world and lectures for the C.S. Lewis Institute Fellows Program. His most recent book is: Here’s Hoping: Recovering Hope for Heaven and Earth. Stuart has a great knowledge of and love for the works of C.S. Lewis. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Master’s degree in Theology from Cambridge University in Great Britain.

Ho-Ming Tsui, Pastor, was born in Kingston, Ontario and moved to Toronto when he was 8. He grew up attending Richmond Hill Christian Community Church (RHCCC) with his family. God called him into ministry during his university years at Queen’s University. After graduation, he attended Tyndale Seminary (M. Div.) and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (D. Min.). After serving as a young adults and English pastor, he was appointed lead pastor in 2018. Pastor Ho-Ming heads up the strategic and teaching teams of RHCCC as well as the young life development ministries.

Randy Newman

Randy Newman (1956-2024) was the Senior Fellow for Apologetics and Evangelism at the C.S. Lewis Institute. He taught at several evangelical seminaries. After serving for over 30 years with Campus Crusade for Christ, he established Connection Points, a ministry to help Christians engage people’s hearts the way Jesus did. He has written seven books, Questioning Evangelism, Corner Conversations, Bringing the Gospel Home, Engaging with Jewish People, Unlikely Converts: Improbable Stories of Faith and What They Teach Us About Evangelism, Mere Evangelism. and his most recent, Questioning Faith: Indirect Journeys of Belief through Terrains of Doubt. Randy has also written numerous articles about evangelism and other ways our lives intertwine with God’s creation. He earned his MDiv and PhD in Intercultural Studies from Trinity International University. Randy went home to be with the Lord in May 2024.

Joe Boot, is a cultural theologian, leading Christian apologist, founding pastor of Westminster Chapel in Toronto, and founder of the Ezra Institute for Contemporary Christianity (EICC). Joe has spoken all over the world in 25 countries at numerous universities, seminaries, churches, colleges, and conferences from Eton College and Oxford University, to Forman University in Lahore, Pakistan. He earned his Master’s degree in Mission Theology (University of Manchester U.K), and holds a Ph.D. in Christian Intellectual Thought (WTS, Florida USA).

Peter Lau is the Pastor of Mandarin Ministry at the Toronto Community Alliance Church (TCAC). In 1999, due to the increasing number of overseas Chinese who spoke Mandarin, the church started a Mandarin ministry. In 2010, TCAC planted a church in Markham, and the Petra Alliance Church was established. Peter received an (M.Div.) in Chinese Pastoral Ministry from Tyndale Theological Seminary and a B.A. in Psychology from McMaster University. His published work includes, Marketplace Ministry (Lausanne Occasional Papers 40), with contributors and editors: Timothy Liu, Gordon Preece, and Wong Siew Li and is published by Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization.
