But as Lewis reminds us, true freedom, fulfillment, and identity are found not in self-assertion but in self-surrender to Christ. As Jesus Himself said, “Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it” (Luke 9:24). In Christ, we discover that losing ourselves is the only way to find our true selves.
