The birth of Jesus Christ is accepted as a historical fact by secular and Christian historians alike. His life, death, and stories of His resurrection are attested not only in the pages of the New Testament, but also by ancient historians of the first century including the Jewish historian Josephus in his Antiquities of the Jews (circa 93–94 AD) and the Roman historian Tacitus in his Annals (circa 116 AD). The bigger question is not whether Jesus was a real person, but, rather, was Jesus different from any other human being in history?

One of the strongest arguments for the deity of Jesus Christ is based on the realization that He was able to completely fulfill the more than 300 prophecies foretold about the Messiah in the Hebrew Scriptures, which were written by numerous writers anywhere from 1,400 to 600 years before the birth of Christ. This devotional will begin by highlighting the importance and nature of biblical prophecy. You will then be taken on a journey through some of the prophecies of the Messiah in the Old Testament and their fulfillment particularly in the birth or nativity of Jesus Christ.

As you walk through this daily Advent devotional, may your wonder, awe, and love grow for the One who has fulfilled the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms, our Messiah, Jesus.

Your brother in Messiah,
