Walking with God Ourselves - Part 1
"Don't let your hearts turn away from the Lord. Instead, obey him."
- Deuteronomy 30:17
“You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” (Deuteronomy 6:5)
The journey of walking with God begins with our hearts. Is your heart set to love and serve the Lord? The set of one's heart determines the course of their life. Dr. Henry Blackaby gets to the heart of the matter as he calls us to focus on God's love for us and our love for Him.
Love is the main thing God requires of His people, but many people find it easier to obey and study about God than to love Him. Obedience and love are closely interrelated: as our obedience to God springs out of love for Him, that obedience opens our lives to greater intimacy with Him. If we set our hearts on loving God, the Holy Spirit will increase our love for Him.
Henry Blackaby explores the relationship between love and obedience and encourages listeners to take frequent inventory of the status of our intimacy with God. This lecture took place on Sept 23, 2005, at the CS Lewis conference, Walking with God in Daily Life, in Falls Church, Virginia.
