The Emerging Church Part 2
The leaders of the post-modern “Emerging Church” movement attempted to address and remedy some of the pressing issues that they believed challenged the church at the close of the 20th century: rigidity, consumerism, imperialism, legalism and more. Influential authors like Tony Jones, Brian McLeran, Eddie Gibbs and Ryan Bolger shaped thought in American seminaries and churches for years to follow. R. Scott Smith offers a thoughtful assessment of the strengths and concerns he sees in the ideas and methodology of the Emerging Church in this second part of a two-part series; The Emerging Church: Understanding and Assessing a Complex Movement.” This lecture took place on November 14, 2007, at a CSLI conference in Annandale, Virginia.
