Understanding Salvation - Part 3
In this chapter, Randy Newman shares about the converted slave trader, John Newton, who wrote the song Amazing Grace. These famous words, “Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me; I once was lost, but now am found, was blind, but now I see,” have reverberated around the world as Newton’s description of God’s salvation of sinners, like ourselves, and have touched the hearts of many. And yet, there is more; if we explore the Scriptures and engage with them, we will find an even richer understanding of the meaning and depth of our salvation through our Savior Jesus Christ. It is easy, however, in the day-to-day activities of life to lose our sense of wonder and excitement over all that God has done to save us. The purpose of this study is to reignite that enthusiasm for God’s gift of salvation and inspire us to give thanks daily to the God who saves.
