PAST EVENT: Prayer and Scripture (Toronto)

2024-12-11 19:30 2024-12-11 10:30 America/New_York PAST EVENT: Prayer and Scripture (Toronto)

CSLI-Toronto presents Prayer and Scripture with Rev. Tom Schwanda In this two-part event, we’ll explore Growing in Your Life of Prayer and Being Transformed by Scripture. Session 1: Growing in Your Life of Prayer Date: Friday, November 4, 2022 (7:30-9:00pm) What can be more important than communicating with God? Yet prayer is not always easy. C.S. Lewis wrote that he was a beginner when it came to prayer. That attitude of humility creates a good foundation for all of us. Whether you are a young Christian or someone who has walked with Jesus for many decades, this session will guide and encourage you in growing in your life of prayer. We will consider the difference between saying our prayers and praying and learn how to practice the spiritual disciplines of: praying our day and praying scripture. Session 2: Being Transformed by Scripture Date: Saturday, November 5, 2022 from (9:00-10:30am) Something happens when people read the Bible. It isn’t automatic but when we approach Scripture with a hunger to know God it can transform us. Knowing lots of information about the Bible is not the secret of the Christian life but applying what we know can shape us into the image of Jesus Christ. To help us to experience this dynamic power of Scripture we will practice what Martin Luther taught his barber when he asked him how to read the Bible and also learn how the early Christian instructed disciples to experience the power of God’s Word. Location: Richmond Hill Christian Community Church, 9670 Bayview Ave., Richmond Hill, Ontario
